SYLLABUS FOR PSI EXAM
The PSI exam will be conducted for 200 Marks distributed between two papers as given below.
Paper 1: Descriptive Paper 1 hour 30 minutes 50 Marks
For this part, each candidate will be provided with an answer booklet consisting of 10 pages. The candidate must complete his/her answers within those pages itself. This paper consists of following sub-parts. No minimum qualifying marks is specified for this paper.
a. ESSAY (600 words) — 20 Marks
b. PRECIS WRITING (SAARAAMSHA BARAHA) — 10 Marks
c. KANNADA TO ENGLISH TRANSLATION — 10 Marks
d. ENGLISH TO KANNADA TRANSLATION — 10 Marks
Paper 2: Objective Paper 1 hour 30 minutes 150 Marks
This is an important and scoring part in this examination as the paper consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions(MCQ) for 150 Marks. Each question carries 1.5 marks. There will be a negative marking for each wrong answer marked in this part, 25 % i.e. 0.375 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer marked by the candidate. No negative marking for the unattempted questions.

d. GEOGRAPHY( special reference to Karnataka)

h. MORAL EDUCATION
i. CURRENT AFFAIRS
“All this syllabus matters only if a candidate qualifies in the PHYSICAL TEST conducted by the KARNATAKA STATE POLICE DEPARTMENT.” Hence this exam is a mixture of MENTAL APTITUDE & PHYSICAL AGILITY. The candidates are hereby advised to practice Running, Jumping & shot-put atleast for 30 to 40 days prior to the physical test.
